fishiemishieIt never fails to amuse me how my personal web presence (in fandom or out of it) is minimal-to-dismal, even when I have to manage social media for paid-work. (Or maybe it's like how the carpenter's house is the one falling down...) Anyway, it is fitting that my first entry in this thing is more related to my volunteer-work than particular me-anythings. I'm throwing in some dog pictures at the end to make up for it. (Honestly, that makes this entry representative of at least 80% of my life right now.)
The Organization for Transformative Works has opened two positions! Open Doors and Web Strategy, Design & Development now have available roles open for application until August 19.
My favorite post about Open Doors is still a spotlight posted during the 2010 fundraising drive that opened like this: "Open Doors is about heartbreak." That moment you hit a broken link, or can't track down that zine or artwork or what-have-you, and think, No, is it gone?--Open Doors is about preventing those moments.
Open Doors' preservation work (both digital and physical) has become very dear to me, I just...want so so much for the committee to be a resource for mods that have poured their hearts into archives they can no longer afford or maintain, or for fans that no longer have room to store fanwork collections they may have curated over many years. But we could use a few more people to keep up with requests. So if you're interested or know someone who might be, please apply or encourage them to apply!
I would be remiss if I did not also mention that if you've got Drupal and web management skills instead or know someone that does, to apply for the Web Strategy, Design & Development committee. They're an awesome team managing a whole lot of work.

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING TOTALLY DIFFERENT:
I love this picture: my dogs look so respectable and calm, and they're even positioned like a movie poster. Most of the time, they're just one tennis ball away from doing the "SQUIRREL"--you know, the expression that looks like this:
(This one and I entered a look-alike contest once, and beat 15 other human-dog pairs for 1st place. The judges all agreed it was in the expression. So I did manage to make this entry about me after all. \o/)
